Lyrics
TIGER AND CLEO (by Gia Dagenhart)
Cleo crawls out the cat door
Every morning before breakfast at dawn
She prances between flower beds,
‘Neath petunias, towards the neighbor’s lawn
While Tiger sits at his windowsill
Watching birds wrench their worms from the grass
Waiting for his tabby lover
To emerge on the other side of the glass
She’ll greet him with a meow
And he’ll flex his mighty paws
She’ll show off with a pounce
Before singing him this song:
“Let’s go chasing mice together
Any time would do
It wouldn’t matter what the weather
But Tiger, you’re an indoor cat
So I guess this song will have to do”
Cleo’s owner is getting worried
‘Cause she disappears for days at a time
And Tiger paws at the doorway
And he howls out the window every night:
“Why can’t we chase mice together?
Any time would do
It wouldn’t matter what the weather
But Cleo, you’re an outdoor cat
So I guess this song will have to do”
